Only God
Pastor Gary Oser
Last month I shared with you about an amazing sea creature that points to our God as Creator. This month I want to share again from the book, A Closer Look at the Evidence, by Richard and Tina Kleiss, but this time we will consider an amazing land animal—the cheetah.
The cheetah is the world’s fastest land animal, capable of accelerating from 0-40 mph in 2 seconds. (That is better than some modern cars do!) The cheetah can reach a speed of 70 mph.
How does it reach these phenomenal speeds?

It is designed with a high-performance body containing a uniquely powerful heart, strong, large-diameter arteries and extra-large nostrils for breathing large volumes of air. It also has hip and shoulder girdles that swivel on its spine. As it runs, the cheetah’s spine curves up and down as its legs contract and extend. When moving at high speed, it may only touch the ground every 23 feet!
Evolutionists would claim that some unknown pre-cheetah creature turned into the cheetah by chance of mutations of its heart, liver, arteries, nostrils, hips, shoulders, spinal column and muscles. Yet the oldest known cheetah fossils reveal an animal that is essentially identical to the cheetahs alive today. Once again, the actual physical evidence supports Creation rather than evolution.

The cheetah’s unique characteristics are the result of God’s design. All of the information necessary for the cheetah’s speed was intentionally part of the first large “cat-type” creature. No series of random modifications could have produced this fast, sleek animal. Only God could!
Psalm 104:24-25 says, “O Lord, how many are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of Your possessions. There is the sea, great and broad, in which are swarms without number, animals both small and great” (NASB 1995).
The amazing animals God has created for us to enjoy should encourage us to give Him thanks and praise!
